Howdy Partner,

Thank you for your interest in our Cowboy Church! I so appreciate you taking the time to learn about us.

We're an informal, "come as you are" gathering of Jesus followers who love God and one another. We want to grow in our knowledge of Christ while sharing His message of love, grace, and forgiveness in our daily lives. Come join our laid back atmosphere where the coffee is always hot and we usually have donuts!

About Us

Who Are We?

Starting Gate Cowboy Church (SGCC) is a Christian Baptist, country church located in Purcell Oklahoma (McClain County) just 20 minutes south of Norman. We have a distinct western style that caters to both country and city folks alike.

What to Expect

People often say Starting Gate is "the most welcoming and comfortable church they've ever been to." It's a relaxed atmosphere where you'll feel right at home. Best of all, it's a place where you can connect with a group of people who will encourage and support you through all the trials life brings you. More than just a church, we are a family.

Our Sunday services begin at 10:30 am and ends 60-70 minutes later.

Attire is casual and whatever feels comfortable. You'll see lots of cowboy hats, baseball caps, boots, t-shirts, and jeans - but not too many three-piece suits!

Our Messages

At Starting Gate, you'll hear messages that are relevant and can be applied to your life. Each Sunday, Pastor Tim presents a straightforward, plain-speaking approach to teaching the Gospel.
